Here I had written a step-by-step guide for making Diwali Lantern with paper.

Before we start making our Lantern, let’s discuss the things which are necessary in making the beautiful Diwali Lantern.

  • Scissor – For Cutting Paper
  • Ruler – For Straight Line
  • Fevicol / Glue – For Sticking the Paper
  • Pencil – For drawing basic sketch.
  • Decorating Tape – For Decoration Purpose
  • Two A4 Size Papers – Blue & Yellow (You can take any papers of two different colors according to your will)

If you don’t have any of these things then you will buy them from your nearest shop or buy them online. But I will tell you one thing before you buy them and that is the Diwali sale

Almost all stores are providing good Diwali discount offers on there all products. Stores like Amazon and Flipkart, Amazon starts a Great Indian Festival Sale and Flipkart starts a Big Billion Day Sale

So my suggestion is you must buy all of your required products online and make your lanterns at less price.

Steps For Making Diwali Lantern

Now lantern is ready for Diwali

This is how it looks like this in the end. So if you want to make this lantern for Diwali then you just need to follow these steps.

Total Time Required 10 minutes

Step 1)

Step 1 for making lantern

Take the first paper (yellow in our case) and fold it in half as shown in the picture below.

Cut the paper in the vertical direction from the folded end at a distance of 1-1.5 cm, leaving some area at the free end.

Now take another paper (Blue in our case) and apply fevicol / glue in one of the horizontal direction as shown in the picture below.

Cut one petal of the yellow paper (you’ll understand this why we cut one extra petal).

Now stick one end of yellow paper to the blue paper’s one end as shown in the picture below.

Now apply fevicol / glue on the other horizontal side of the blue paper at a distance of 3-4 cm from the end as shown in the picture below.

Stick the other horizontal end of the yellow paper to the blue paper where we applied fevicol / glue in the above step.

Cut the extra blue part carefully and keep it aside for further use.

For decorating purposes, you can apply decorating tape to both the horizontal end of the papers sticked together.

Now apply glue at the extra part of blue paper in vertical direction as shown in the picture below.

Try to make a cylinder of the sticked papers as shown in the picture below.

And then carefully stick one end to the portion where we applied fevicol / glue.

Take the strip of blue paper which we kept aside in the step 8 and apply glue at both of its end.

And stick it to the top of the lantern cylinder as a handle to hang it outdoors.

Now lantern is ready for Diwali

That’s it, your lantern is ready. Stick one lamp in it and switch on the button and enlighten your door.
